The Humbling moment of the day

Carolyn came walking into the kitchen, "playing" the ukulele singing: "I still love you...even when you yell at me." Thanks, Carolyn - Love you too! (In my own defence, let me say that although I do raise my voice at them a lot when they are misbehaving, a habit I am REALLY working on, I have only yelled at her once today and that was when she almost ran into the parking lot at Kroger!)

Park and Potty, among other things

Image
Kaitlyn likes to squish Natalie (they both can tackle and squish each other). They think it's funny. OK, Not funny anymore; get off, Natalie says! Kaitlyn's favorite position lately (we have to restrain Carolyn from 'helping' her 'finish the somersault', which is what the big kids think she's doing). Carolyn wraps up her babies and kitties in her silky and then tells the rest of us to be quiet b/c one of them is napping. (She put one in Natalie's crib the other day and then got mad at me when I left it in there during Natalie's nap. Because, she said, it was time for the doll's ballet class and she didn't want to take a nap anymore; she was done and she was crying - the doll that is!) Poor Natalie - Carolyn jerked the stroller away to "show" Natalie how to properly strap in a baby. Natalie just took it and stood there and watched her! (Normally she screams and they yank the thing back and forth and I have to break it up be...

Funny conversation

Natalie was crawling under her crib to get something this morning, and Seth said something about he knew who it was under the crib because she had a little butt (sticking out from under the crib). He continued on, "Kaitlyn has the bigger butt. And mine is bigger than hers." Carolyn made some comment about the size of her butt - where it fit in the mix, then Seth commented again. "And Mommy has the biggest butt of all!" (I'm thinking, thanks, Seth - I actually have a relatively small butt.) But no, the conversation doesn't stop there! Carolyn says something about her daddy's butt, so Seth realizes the mistake he made, and says, "Daddy has the biggest butt of all." Carolyn (having to comment on everything, even when she's wrong - which she was), "Mommy's butt is biggest like Daddy's." (and that's about where I ended that conversation on the size of my rear end!) Gotta go referree...

First she learned to climb up on the chairs, then bench, and now table! She's trouble for sure now. New rule: all chairs and bench must be pushed under the table when you get up (yet another rule no one pays attention to!) I told Carolyn not to give the baby doritos. I guess the baby wanted them bad enough. Since she already had it in her mouth by the time I got around the corner, I let her eat it (and she didn't choke). Carolyn was just cute reading this book. She likes the Olivia book she has, so we had to find more at the library. I think if Olivia were a real person, Carolyn would get along with her well. Seth and Carolyn came running into the den last night, "the lizards are stuck to the ceiling"..and sure enough - they were: This one is starting to become a Bailey Family classic, I believe (you'll see what I mean in a minute). Sunday night I was playing with the girls in the babies' room (door shut). Rob went out to check on Seth (left ...

Just a picture update - and one trouble-making story

Image
The kids Sunday Morning before General Conference (all in polo like shirts/dresses). Seth shorts are longer, I was just to busy keeping the babies from climbing off the chest that I didn't notice to pull the shorts back down! This picture is Natalie to show she now has two full teeth on the bottom. (She's getting one on top now too, but you can't see it yet. It's the one off to one side, not the middle...that's going to look weird when it comes in!) Kaitlyn has all but the eye teeth and two year old molars broken through now, but some are hard to see. You should see her down a pack of fruit snacks though! Isn't she cute? She brings me things and she tries to put EVERYTHING over her head. Drisella (Carolyn) was not happy about Natalie wearing this, but she survived the sharing process! "A song is a wonderful kind of thing, so lift up your voice and sing!" (But what we were hearing here was more commonly referred to as "noise...

First Blog Header

Image
Backpost - post created date - 2/27/2013, content date: estimated April 2008 I have recently (2/2013) been interested in publishing my blog (probably by year or in sets of years) to books for my family as a sort of journal/scrapbook. (I do keep a scrapbook too, but it was already out of date for the time when this post will be dated - so as of now - 2013, it's really out of date - I'll fix it one day - maybe when they're all in school?) :) But the blog has a different feel to it - sometimes it's a scrapbook with lots of pictures, other times it tells a story or funny quotes, or just randomness happening - different from a scrapbook. And I love family stories and histories, so the more books the merrier, right? But I am posting this because I realized, I love the first header I made and the next one, so I want them to appear in the (envisioned) book - so I need to include them in a post! First Blog Header Hands in order: Rob (29), Beth (26), Seth (5), Carolyn (3...

April 1, 2008

So I was trying to type something like, "We're expecting" or " We're having twins again " for an "April Fool's Joke", but as I tried to type it, I just couldn't! The only thing funny about me having more kids right now would be the fact that there must be something wrong with me that needed medicating! My uncle actually asked me about 6 months ago if I was pregnant again. (What was he thinking?!) I told him we had found the birth control aisle at the grocery store. :) Other than April fool's, here's the event of the week: We went over to visit a friend who had a new baby (her first is about 15 months old). While visiting, Seth managed to put a tear in the little girl's ball pit. So, today we went to target and $30 later, we have replaced it.   (Hopefully Rob can fix the torn one so it's useable and mine can play in it.) Rather than time out (which seems to have little effect on Seth lately), I decided he would...

Some old pictures

Image
I actually did the 5 things on that to-do list (see posting "tagged" below). That never happens. Maybe I should put my to-do list on my blog more often! Some I know have put up old pictures for us to look at, so here are some I had onfile. (The decorated ones were scanned from scrapbooks that my mom made.) Note: Rob's blog is up and going. Some pictures from my life This is a picture of our early dating (we started dating March of 2001, 7 years ago). This is from May (I think) of 2001. One of my most favorite memories is going to the beach with my mom's side of the family, which we did several times. Sometimes, one family would go and others would visit, which may have been what happened here. This has all of my cousins that were born at the time except for a few (Heather- out of the house, Kerry's kids - too far away. Sarah Beth, Conner, and Noah not yet born.) Can you figure out what Edwards cousins these are? I'm the cute one in the...

10 years ago: I was 16, soon to go on my first date (which my mom kept reminding me to be nice on. no not stay pure - she knew that wasn't a problem; she just didn't want me to have an attitude!). If you want to know precisely, I went and got my journal. On 3/19/1998: I tried (note TRIED) to cook hamburgers that night (mom tried to recook them when she got home since they weren't done but they burned). My comprehensive health class watched a video on birth (which I closed my eyes for b/c I didn't want to see it - and still don't - women who want a mirror during birthing are NUTS). And then in my journal I went on a tirade about how I didn't know how I'd be able to get married or live on my own b/c I couldn't cook, clean well, sew, even cut out a pattern (I had recently screwed even that part up), and the thought of birth made me sick (I said in my journal I'd rather adopt).... boy have I come a long way! (I can do all of those things now pretty well....

What a mess they can be

Image
So, when they are good for a long grocery shopping trip, I let them get a 'prize' (usually food/candy that cost less than $3). Seth picked out bubble gum at the checkout. He had some. He shared some with Carolyn. How nice. Here are their blue tongues. So, I was back in my bathroom measuring the width of the shower for a new curtain rod. Kaitlyn came walking in there. I told her 'hi' and then noticed blue liquid running down her chin...hmm? I quickly sweeped her mouth to get out whatever it was...WHO GAVE THE BABY BUBBLE GUM!!!???!?? Of course, the first thing I heard was [Seth] "It wasn't me!" Natalie likes to crawl under Carolyn's bed (about 8" from the floor) and get toys that we keep under there. She's only gotten stuck once. We haven't yet "lost" her under there! Seth has noticed that he can climb the one tree we have, so here they are trying. Guess who had to get him down?

A Bailey Fairytale

Image
Once upon a time there was a princess, who ruled from her high throne. Then, one day one of the princess' sisters thought perhaps she would like to wear the crown. She liked it. She held the sceptor and the kingdom was peaceful. The oldest princess had another crown, so she could share. But then the youngest of them all thought that perhaps she would like her turn to rule. There were but two princess crowns. Sister number two did not agree to this plan. The youngest princess ran away with the crown, leaving the middle princess in tears. But the handsome prince gave up his crown to the little princess, and all were happy again. THE END

Kids say the darndest things - 2

I love the things they say. It's what makes wiping the poop, cleaning up the spilled chocolate milk, changing the peed on sheets, straightening the den three times a day, and refereeing the fights worth it! Carolyn after hurting her toe on the front porch: "Can you kiss my toe?" [Beth thinking about how to avoid it] "Go ahead, kiss it." [We agreed upon a kiss blown to the toe] Looking at Rob's freshly shaved head: "Why did you cut your little hairs? I liked your little hairs. They are cute." (She likes it when he has about a 1/4 inch of hair.) Seth in the van: "Did Jared used to like to play computer and watch tv when he was little like me?" (I told him we didn't have a computer when we were little. So he asked something else, I think about playing outside. I told him but Uncle Jared did like to watch tv when he was little.) "You had TV?!" [I guess if we didn't have a computer, we must have been so backwards we couldn...

Quotes of the Week

Carolyn: (Looking around at Church on Sunday) "Where is President Monson?" (President Monson is the current Prophet and President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) Seth: "When can we go see Jesus and hear Him tell stories?" I pointed out that He didn't exactly live on earth right now so we could read the stories in the scriptures until then. Then he told me, "But He's coming again." or something like that. Can you tell he just had a lesson on the second coming in Primary?:)

Happy Leap Day

my 'dirty princess' (yes, she MUST go outside in her brand new sundress) and then sit in the dirt and dig! No explanation necessary Mom brought the stuff to make a fruit bouquet, but we ate most of it in progress, so it never really was completed! I think a lot of the chocolate dipped strawberries were gone by this picture (with good reason)!
