February 2015 - catching our breath

Image
Life is still so busy (we're in school - what else is there during the school year but busy??) - but at least there's nothing huge going on right now (you know, like moving during the holidays followed by 4 birthdays). Here are some moments from February: We've had really odd (i.e., typical) weather lately. Alee has had the opportunity to try out her dollar tree kite (on the day she picked it out)  I'm pretty sure this is her first time with a kite ever. And play in the "snow" :) The girls had country western day at their school (each grade showed off the dances they'd been learning in PE class).    I know the picture looks funny, but I didn't know if all those kids parents would want them on the internet! Carolyn would have been embarrassed to have a picture of her dancing on the blog. (She's very self-conscious these days.) So here's one of her chatting with Alee before they got started. And you've...

8 is Great!

The twins turned 8 and the next day they were baptized. I was surprised at how many people attended (especially since it was early in the morning for a Saturday.) They were so cute and the service was so uplifting. You could feel the Spirit of the Lord there before, during, and after. (And of course we had fun gathering and eating back at our house.) Here are some pictures: I sewed them simple, same style peasant dresses as they humbly entered the waters of baptism to follow Jesus Christ. (I put a snap in the hem at the front/back to keep the dress together in the water more easily.) I sewed them "after" dresses - still white to symbolize purity, but of their own style (they chose the style and materials) - and they were elegant - reminding them to choose to live like the daughters of a Heavenly King that they are. (From their birthday Friday night before baptism) - earmuffs and mp3 players. oh yeah!)
