Saturday is a Special day, it's the day we get ready for Sunday

Image
I thought it would make our work more fun to take pictures of our Saturday chores! 1st haircut of the day: (Seth)...oh, I'll add one at the bottom of the 'after' look. Seth told my mom on the phone that it was short. Then I hear him say, "What's a crew cut?" (Mom - always thinking I've chopped his hair to nothing!) It isn't a crew cut, but it's as short as I could get it without a razor...we're in SC and it's HOT! (and he likes it really short...just for the summer) Rob cutting the front/back yard (I made him take another 'leaning' into it b/c he makes pushing that thing look so easy but the 'leaning into it' picture didn't look as candid). 2nd Haircut: Carolyn (she asked me a few weeks ago to cut hers, so I just trimmed it....eventually the front will be as long as the back! (I keep trimming the back more than I trim the front, but it can't seem to catch up) Kaitlyn helps hold the pole Rob's about ...

They are SO cute!

Yeah, you can just call this a "brog" (bragging blog) for the day...they're just so cute, I had to put some of the pictures of them up: Kaitlyn and Natalie waiting to go outside to swim The kids swimming...I think I need to buy a new pool (the blue one cracked from all the lifting and use of it), but I want to find one with a plug in the bottom! Note, Carolyn wore the swimsuit Natalie is wearing when she was 5 months old. Kaitlyn is wearing the one Carolyn wore at that same age. Carolyn is wearing the only one that fits from last year (she had three!), and every time she puts it on backwards! haha! Seth has two from grandparents, here he is sporting his Nemo swimset. Carolyn has been asking for weeks to make 'shape cookies', so I finally gave in and here they are with their cut out and sprinkled cookies (I revoked their icing privileges a few times ago!) Did I ever mention how little I enjoy making sugar cookies with the kids? We bought Natalie a new carseat last...

The Picture Adventure

Most of you probably read the blog where I took all the kids to get their picture made for a mother's day gift (not for me as a mother, but to give to our mothers, etc.) So, now that I think everyone has gotten their copy, here it is: This took more coordination/patience that you would believe! :) But it's done, and they're cute...now if I can ever get around to taking Carolyn by herself (which I have been working on for about a year now, but I'm still burned out from our last attempt at 20 months when she was AWFUL). Oh, mom made Carolyn's dress and I made the twins...cute, huh? Click on it for a bigger image to see the bracelets - they match...oh, and the 'beautiful' ring that the princess is wearing...haha!

15 month checkup (yes, at 16 1/2 months)

We're a little behind with the dr. visits since I called only about 2 weeks before they turned 15 months old to schedule an appointment. This time I scheduled immediately after this appointment for 18 months, and it will still be a few weeks later than I wanted...hope someone can come with me next time (hint hint - August 13th...anybody want to volunteer?) I should have asked someone this time. They were really good, but it's hard to carry out two babies with sore legs. Did you know that now the kids get a shot (or more) at every appointment until they are 6?! Seth didn't get one after 18 months I think, until he was 4. Now, they get one at 2 and one of the 4 year old shots has been changed to when they are three, and now the chicken pox vaccine is popular enough to be standard, so that's at 5 now. Yikes! So many tears. I hate watching them get them and having to hold their hands down. :( At least they got one fewer today. There's a national shortage of the Hib vac...

Rob's new car

Check out Rob's blog for my post on his new car: Where's the Couch? (This blog is mainly run by Rob for him to ramble his thoughts on or to note the changes in our house or life.)

Mostly Carolyn

Carolyn's new cat. Bethany took the kids to build a bear while they were visiting in Duncan this past weekend for a last-thing-to-do-with-Bethany-before-college activity. Seth got a dinosaur and Carolyn got a cat (both expected!) Carolyn's cat is very much HER...this is it without clothes (carolyn says "in its pajamas"). Kaitlyn saw me taking pictures and put something on her head to get attention....she can be such a ham for the camera and crowds...I wish I had been able to film her at my cousin's graduation picnic on Saturday! In the kitchen, she would give Grandma a kiss, clap, and look around to make sure everyone else was clapping too (repeat about 10 times). Then, she buttered up some attention in the den, bringing tootsie rolls (one after another) to Daddy Tom for him to open, break in half, and let her eat (repeat about 20 times!) Here is the cat 'dressed'...so like Carolyn MORE MESSY FUN: Carolyn has a fascination with powder. I usually hide it, b...

From the little perspective

What's for Dinner? Hopefully not beef! Here are some funny quotes that I actually took the time to write down: Seth: (staring at the hamburger helper on his plate) "Is this yucky stuff all you have?" During the same meal, Carolyn said, "I don't like meat." Rob told her that is was just like the meat in hamburgers and she liked those (not really). She said, "I haven't taste hamboogers before." (grumpy voice) [I don't normally make it, but we had a box on the food shelves the babies had pretty much mutilated, so I had to eat it before they tore the thing apart.] We had pasta bake with garlic bread a few weeks ago, and I had put parsley on the bread slices. Carolyn said annoyedly, "Why is there salad on my bread?!" (My mom who was in town for the night wondered with her...why did Mommy put salad on ALL the bread. The reason...b/c this mommy is too lazy to make 4 different versions of the same meal. They can pick whatever it is of...

Growing up

Image
Natalie has been a year for about 4 months now, but she has not been 20 lbs (the required weight to move into a toddler seat and turn around...I didn't really care b/c it meant I only had to buy one carseat at a time rather than two!). She was 19.5 lbs a few weeks ago, so I think she's finally ready...at least the straps were starting to make red marks on the sides of her neck, so Saturday, she got a new carseat. SHE LOVES IT! (Can you tell?) It's identical to Kate's, so we can switch them back and forth. The strap adjuster is on the front, so we don't have to take the whole thing out to adjust the straps. She just giggled the first few minutes I had her in it. Maybe I'll put a video of that too. I kept a friend's kids the other day. One is Carolyn's age, so they play together nicely...piece of cake. The other is the same age as the twins. She was ready for a nap when her mother dropped her off, so she was not terribly happy. She did let me put her down...
