 Decorated for Christmas Natalie and Kaitlyn were in a little play at school that finished out the session of clubs (they were in drama club): The wizard of oz. It was very low key, more like a readers theater, so the costumes were also expected to be low key and nothing complicated for parents. Kaitlyn was Dorothy and Natalie was both auntie Em and a flying monkey. The teacher in charge is a friend of mine and told me i didn't need to make a costume for either, just use what we had around the house. But wearing some random dress out of the closet (Kaitlyn) or nothing at all special (Natalie) was not going to work for my costume-loving twins! :) Plus, it mostly is made from what we have around the house. Bought a posterboard and a headband. That's it.  Natalie stuffed the tail herself.  One of their friends was the makeup artist. Oh wait, I did buy the shoes! But Kaitlyn couldn't keep them, because I got them from a thrift store and they are technically too t...

I love to drive in the fall. Here is a picture journal of what we did over Thanksgiving (with Rob's family at his mom's house). Selfie! At home, we made a poster all month long, adding to it - what we are thankful for. In the past, I've done a "Thankful Tree", but I didn't have time to mess with craftiness this year, so we kept it simple! I wrote very little, even though I have so much to be thankful for, so that there would be lots of room for the kids to write whatever they wanted. It was fun to watch what they wrote. Here is the original and a translation (because my little kindergartner has interpretive spelling). I like to let her try, and they say it's good for them because then they can read back to you what they wrote. (Alee could only remember what she had written if I asked her withing a day of writing it. So, some of these are my guesses based on what I know about her reading/writing abilities...
