Happy Leap Day

Image
my 'dirty princess' (yes, she MUST go outside in her brand new sundress) and then sit in the dirt and dig! No explanation necessary Mom brought the stuff to make a fruit bouquet, but we ate most of it in progress, so it never really was completed! I think a lot of the chocolate dipped strawberries were gone by this picture (with good reason)!

End of February

Seth update: He still thinks it's already spring and wants to wear shorts everyday (please, spring, come!) He is still fascinated by dinosaurs. We went through a thick book today talking about them (he even quoted some lines from an "eyewitness" video from the library that he's checked out probably 2 dozen times). His favorite game is sequence (the kid version, which he calls 'the animal game'). I actually really like it too. (notice Carolyn trying to interrupt him the whole time as he continues with his song and ignores her. My brother Jared and his wife Kristen are the ones I span to in the arm chair. Jared was quite ammused by Seth's crazy little song he made up as he went.) Carolyn update: She got her second hair cut - just a trim really. Back to not potty trained. She doesn't feel like it this week. What Carolyn has to say about Time Out, which she finds herself in often: "It's not fair." (actually, I give more chances than I should)...

Kids say the darndest things

Carolyn has been using the potty the past two days (Tuesday and Wednesday) without me even saying anything to her. (Rob jokingly said when Kaitlyn started taking steps all of a sudden last Monday, "Now, what if Carolyn just started using the potty all of a sudden!" That was a week ago, but my goodness, she is. I hope she keeps it up!) Anyways. Tonight she tried before she got in the bathtub, although she had recently gone. She called me in there when success happened. I had been requesting to see it (proof before candy), so now she thinks everytime she does it, I have to see it before she flushes. I'm ok with this...except when I'm cooking b/c just walking into the bathroom makes me have to wash my hands all over agin! So, when I looked in tonight and saw the little bit she'd done, she comments, "Isn't it cute?" The kids were eating in the kitchen and Carolyn dropped something on the table and then tried to pick it up and eat it. I usually don't ...

Family Resemblance

I think Kaitlyn looks similar to....[do you know who this other baby is?] What do you think? ANSWER: my mom (Kim Swilley Edwards)

Kisses for Valentines!

Image
So, since Valentines is this week (which we don't even celebrate because I think it's a stupid holiday, oops, bad word, I mean Silly holiday!), I decided to do a little quiz. Can you guess whose mouth is whose? The winner gets a kiss from the kids (you have to come visit us to claim your kisses!) A. B. C. D. So, of Seth, Carolyn, Kaitlyn, and Natalie, who is A, B, C, and D? (I will give the answers the day after Valentines - Friday.) One of them is a giveaway b/c of lack of cooperation - take a close look and you'll see what I mean. One was sleeping when I took it. Should have taken them all asleep! Today: Seth has tried playing his "new" ukulele (Uncle Jared passed it down). Carolyn stayed in bed until almost 10 - how nice that would be! Kaitlyn has worked on the rubiks cube. Natalie tried to climb into the compartment under the seat on her riding toy. ANSWER: a. Natalie b. Seth c. Carolyn d. Kaitlyn

I'm Three!

Image
Some of you I have told this to: Carolyn thinks because she is three, everything about her, around her, of her, etc. should be in threes! So, one of the most constant of her "three" annoyances is the three hairbow fight. I put in the first two bows (they're a little big, but you know, a 'honkabow' never hurt anyone and I was forced to wear them...I think she's cute with big bows because she's so prissy). She added the blue one - one on each side and one in the back. In fact, she must be thinking about fours b/c today she added the yellow one in her hand. We finally agreed on one in the back and then left for walmart...which was another adventure in itself - thank goodness she's still here for me to gripe about today!

She's walking! (and her mother can't work the camera)

Image
I'm so sorry - the idiot (me) who has already made this mistake, learned it, and then forgotten it...You can't turn the camera portrait (tall) and take a video b/c the videos do not rotate like photos! Oops! So, everyone tilt your head to the left, and enjoy the show: So, she just started walking tonight. I was retelling a story from the scriptures (for FHE) when all of a sudden Kaitlyn stands up from her favorite brown chair (which is the same way Carolyn learned to walk), and starts taking steps out of nowhere! I had hardly even worked with her trying to get her to walk because she wouldn't let go of my hands when I stood her. Natalie on the other hand who will let go can only take one shaky step or two. Seth likes to walk Natalie around. Kaitlyn does not like the help (independent little baby). She prefers to pick up her food rather than be fed it also. I guess she wasn't going to take steps until she could do it herself! I wonder how long before she's really wal...
