December... 3 weeks flew by!

 Decorated for Christmas

Natalie and Kaitlyn were in a little play at school that finished out the session of clubs (they were in drama club): The wizard of oz. It was very low key, more like a readers theater, so the costumes were also expected to be low key and nothing complicated for parents.
Kaitlyn was Dorothy and Natalie was both auntie Em and a flying monkey. The teacher in charge is a friend of mine and told me i didn't need to make a costume for either, just use what we had around the house.
But wearing some random dress out of the closet (Kaitlyn) or nothing at all special (Natalie) was not going to work for my costume-loving twins! :) Plus, it mostly is made from what we have around the house. Bought a posterboard and a headband. That's it.
 Natalie stuffed the tail herself.

One of their friends was the makeup artist. Oh wait, I did buy the shoes! But Kaitlyn couldn't keep them, because I got them from a thrift store and they are technically too tight, so Natalie got them after the production.
So I spent less than $6 on both costumes.

Kaitlyn has been asking for a haircut... Finally made it to the top of my list.

Rob's mom bought us tickets to the nutcracker for our anniversary....

So we bought more tickets and took the kids too. (I will definitely be bringing the three middle kids back for another ballet. Seth was content, and enjoyed the music, but not excited for more ballet. Alee wasn't quite old enough to fully appreciate it.)
 Family selfies!

The girls and Memérè at intermission.

We love going to the drive through nativity offered by a local church every year. They have real people, real animals, and scriptures posted throughout the driveway loop.

Quick family picture when the kids got ready for church and matched each other with no promoting. It happens about once a year! (This was taken on a Sunday afternoon in my home town outside the funeral home of the viewing of my great aunt.)

It's so pretty... (Our décor is not very elaborate, but I like to see these white lights as I pull in to our home at night in December.)
My brother and his girlfriend cane over for FHE, so we decided to use that Monday for acting out the Christmas story. Songs and scriptures...
Speaking of costumes earlier, I need to use my piles of fabric stash to make some bigger Christmas costumes for bigger kids to act this out each year.
(Natalie and Seth were Mary and Joseph. Carolyn and Kaitlyn were different angels, I know Gabriel is a male, but we were already using the 3 males for Joseph, a wise man, and herod! We need to invite over a family with boys next year! Alee was a shepherd, Madyson was a wise (wo)man, Beth was narrator.)

Mom used to invite over a family or two from church each year. I'd like to invite someone from church and someone from school or neighborhood each year, but this year, we were sadly too busy to be very good neighbors.

The girls wanted a play date, so after our Christmas recital (Saturday morning), they had a friend over and made cookies, had a (water) tea party, and did makeovers.

This last week of school was ultra busy! I was up at the school 4 times more than my normal amount (I counted, that's not an exaggeration), plus an evening concert. The school time was some volunteering and some attending assemblies. I sent in things for 5 parties, but didn't do any parties. I mean "celebrations".

Rob finished the last major piece to our playroom built in. (The rest is trim and details.)

I love that my kids love music as much as we do. I thoroughly enjoy their concerts (even the beginning ones of the early years). Finally, most of the girls are behaved for them too. Alee could use some improvement still, but that's nothing new.

For video of the family Christmas recital (12 December), go to www.ustream.TV/channel/bailey-family and find the recording there.

And there were many other things we did in the past 3 weeks (visits from uncles and aunts, shopping, sewing, crafting, shipping, cooking/cleaning (barely!), practicing music, budgeting, serving, planning, studying, working, caroling, ....), but I don't have pictures of all those. :)

Finally, Christmas break is here, and although I've still got some projects left to finish... at least home work, projects, and schedules are on break for 2 weeks!

I love Seth's bow ties and the painting above your piano and your family selfie picture at the Nutcracker :)

Also, where is the 7th stocking?!
I had to stack mine and Rob's because the first hook hangs over the turtle tank (which was in a different place last year when we moved in).
