My favorite house project so far!

Image
my wasted space – there’s a vent to the right wall, and with the window and fireplace, we are limited what could go there. My homeless scrapbooks (almost always have been homeless…no shelf is deep enough for them) My plan – I want a book case for my birthday – I want to build it (with help) and learn to use powertools, and I want it deep enough for scrapbooks, and hold other stuff, and while we’re at it, how about a seat for that room (since everyone wants to sit in the room with no seating!) And it begins…it’s strong (one of my other criteria) After two weeks, it is finished! (well, pillows and a valence will come later!) We had a few bumps, so it’s not perfect (fortunately you can’t tell from the picture) and the finishing touches aren’t essential to its function, so it’s in place with my scrapbooks and cushion! yea! Now I need – someone to sit on it…  check! and some cute baskets for the upper shelves…maybe I'll get baskets for ME for Easter :) …and fr...

Faith of a Child

As aggravating as they can be and as much as they fight, sometimes they remind me that they are really cute and really are good...here's a story: Carolyn, talking to herself on the couch, "I still can't find gooey [some weird toy], so tonight I'm going to pray...wait, I can pray anytime!" (then she ran off to her room, I can only assume to pray for her lost toy!) :) I smiled and thought of how many times I've heard them tell the kids that in primary - nice to know they really are listening. :)

Kids' art

Image
A cute idea from our primary: They are little "temples" built from sugar cubes and frosting the kids did after visiting the temple. (A marshmallow holds in the toothpick with the angel Moroni on top and sugar dots are used for flowers around it.)

Finishing off February

Image
These are just a bunch of pictures from February that I don’t think made it into any other blog post. Seth’s 100 day project (we came up with the idea and worked on it together – with Alee and Natalie in the way) Kristen comes up with another way to do their crazy little hairs! Actually being calm while waiting to leave for church…a rare occasion! Lovin’ the baby I love butter! (what she didn’t realize is that she was putting some leftover cream cheese on leftover garlic bread…haha…and she ate it –except for the crust) Walked in and found Natalie doing a photoshoot! (her subject…I’m grateful the barbie is dressed!) Kaitlyn trying to catch the specks (the little dust you can see when sun’s coming through a window) Kaitlyn’s first haircut! Before:  after: Sunday after church…the last day of February

SNOW

Image
It was so beautiful that there were over 100 files (pictures and videos) to transfer from the camera tonight! We started last night when it got so thick and pretty, and continued through early afternoon – it is mostly gone tonight with only the thickest areas still having snow. Chloe and Alee’s first snow…Alee didn’t care. Kristen has a cute video of Chloe jumping for joy…here she’s tasting a little. and some hot chocolate and a fire were nice too :)

Happy Birthday Twins!

The twins turned 3 on Saturday (stake conference for us and Rob had to help someone move, so he was gone most of the day...) So, we let them open their together present Friday night, and sang to them (all of us that were in Columbia) on Sunday...but they wanted to eat the cake on Saturday before I left for the meeting that night. (I screwed up on the cake so it looks awful and was way too dense...please ignore! I was cooking a lot that day!) So, just me and the other two sang to them Saturday so we could cut the cake for them to have some...and we just sang again Sunday with 1/2 the cake missing - but candles intact! :) Birthdays are really low key around here...can you tell? :)

Growing Girls

Image
I weighed myself this morning for my weekly weigh in (much happier this week - last week I went up, this week I went down...whew!) and the girls wanted to be weighed too... Their ages are 3, 3, and 5...their weights... 27.2 for Natalie, 36.8 for Kaitlyn, and 46.1 for Carolyn... wow! Kaitlyn is nearly 10 pounds heavier than Natalie - no wonder she feels so much heavier! (I have some charts for weight/height like the pediatrician has - we'll check at the appt next month, but my guess by my chart is that Natalie is around the 10th percentile - an improvement for her! and Kaitlyn is around the 92nd percentile - faster growth for her too)

What Alee thinks of colds:

Image
Between two kids snotting, one crying whenever she's awake, my sore throat, kaitlyn's busted lip, and a wreck (b/c we reorganized, but putting it all back together is hard without cooperation) of a house... I think I feel the same way today! Today's Rob's birthday...he had thought about taking the day off...I think he made a wise choice going to work! Better chance of it being a 'happy' birthday there! lol

LOL

A few laughs for the day: The kids asked about why someone was dressed like the statue of liberty on the side of the road the other day...we got to talking about taxes/tax returns, and in trying to explain to Seth what a tax return is (because we pay "too much" money to the government everytime Daddy gets paid), he realized something..."So that's why we don't have much money!" (being denied every request at the store means not much money) Natalie likes to talk about hair color - who has hair like who - she likes that my grandma used to have red hair like her when she was younger...so in this discussion of hair the other day, she informed me..."Jesus had red hair like me." Kaitlyn, used to seeing her daddy wear pants, asked at his wearing shorts..."Why do you have legs?" Seth got sent to the corner last night, and Kaitlyn seeing which corner he went to, said..."Hey! That's where I live in the corner!" :) (S...

Scary Video

The girls were watching videos of Alee at the computer just now, and when we got to the last one (actually the first in time), it was her temperature being taken right after she was born (you can guess where)...I said, as the video zoomed to the ...um, thermometer, "Oh, we're not going to watch that." Carolyn, "I want to watch that!" (denied) ...now, why on earth did someone take a video of Alee and her rectal temperature moment?? I'm sure she'll appreciate that someday! Sorry, no picture or video to go with this post...we try to keep it G-rated!

Lights, New Year, Blessing, Baby Jesus

Image
Lights at the Zoo pictures: New Year’s Eve: Alee was tired before we even got there (after 9), so she was fussy, and went to sleep Kaitlyn was not far past her! Natalie kept up her endurance by eating about 100 cheese puff balls…she was drooling orange by midnight! Carolyn and Natalie loved playing with a little girl whose name I can’t remember. If I got this right, I think she is their 3rd cousin, twice removed! She’s a distant cousin! :) Seth was hardly seen most of the night (he was with Conner and other boys) And Carolyn loved the party attire! Starting off the new year with a baby blessing: (Mom smocked the dress…probably the last blessing dress for the Bailey babies!) Isn’t she gorgeous? (I’m only a little biased) and matching Uncle Will and Seth That’s actually an adult sweater that Will shrunk in the dryer! And this was just too funny! (I am putting this in the weekly email too!) The brown door is our front door (th...
