Happy Thanksgiving

Image
We had a quiet thanksgiving...I did take pictures, but they're not that interesting. This morning though, I found this on the kitchen table - I thought it was cute and fit the season (even though it's specifically to Grammy, I'll share it with all): Translation: Dear Grammy, thank you for the fuzzy socks! (with a picture of a fuzzy sock - don't know what the GCS is for - Grammy Carolyn Seth?? - probably Carolyn's attempt before Seth wrote her message for her.)

Happy (early) Birthday Carolyn!

Image
Just born (the first picture is “Black Friday” – I was nuts! I can’t believe I took her out shopping at like 8 days old!) not this year baby!   Carolyn is 1. Carolyn is 2 (and had a bad hair year!) Carolyn is 3. Carolyn is 4. Carolyn is now 5!  well, she will be tomorrow! But I’ll be in labor, and I will not feel like or be able to post anything for her. About her birthday: We had a little “tea party” (I had little time/energy, so by that I mean crackers, pink lemonade, and cake – with my real dishes and in dress up clothes) The Newest Member of our family: She got a baby alive and littlest pet shop for her birthday. She loves the littlest pet shop, but oh my! does she love the baby alive – she holds it, rocks it, feeds it, puts it to sleep – she even took some of the twins socks to give her some “knee socks” this morning to take Seth to school. (It’s cold outside in the mornings.)  Currently she’s singing a lullaby to the baby! She h...

Halloween (and the end of October)

LOTS OF PICTURES Will took Seth (1-on-1) to the state fair. (Of course, Carolyn was a little jealous, but we made our own funnel cakes at home. Will took my camera to the fair, so home pictures are still on Rob’s old phone – he’ll have to get them off later.) The next night, we made sugar cookies (“shape cookies”). That is a rare occasion around here b/c cleaning up flour and icing after kids – not so fun. Jared was very meticulous about icing his – note his face when Kristen tried to get insider info from “the artist” on what the icing designs were meant to be! Beth tired of being pregnant (this is 8 months/36 weeks) – I am now 37 and 2 weeks away from induction – yea! The next night we went over to a friends and did jack-o-lanterns (kids drew with markers on little ones). Seth drew the face for the big one and Rob did the carving (I didn’t want to get down on the floor and I don’t like using a knife past cooking – he gets the jack-o-lantern job!) ...

Happy Birthday Seth!

Seth – his first halloween (in the hospital) – and a month later Seth is 1. Seth is 2. Seth is 3.   Seth is 4. Seth is 5. Seth is 6 (and in kindergarten). Seth is 7 – in first grade, loving his new backyard and his room back to himself, and waits with anticipation on visits from uncles (to even out all the girl drama around here)! (This picture is from his trip with Uncle Will to the state fair – a one-on-one time with him – he’s been wanting ‘turkey on a bone’ for a while – Will said he ate 2 bites and wasn’t hungry anymore!)

The New French Fries

Yes, it is true - in our house, green beans have become like unto french fries. If you ask which they'd want, hands down french fries! But when green beans are served, the ketchup had better be on the table - especially for Carolyn! She got Kaitlyn into the new fad last night.... And I could care less whether they dip their green beans in ketchup - I'm just happy they're eating them!

Yea it’s cold! Boo, the heat doesn’t work!

Solution: use the fireplace in the “playroom”. Rob had to guard it all afternoon. Rob and Jacob had fun putting stuff in the fire – scrap wood, cardboard boxes, pieces of tree branches fallen, the file folder of stuff waiting to be shredded… And with no chairs in this room other than the computer desk (it is the playroom after all), we all sat on the floor in front of it. The kids thought it was fun. We had no grate (?) – the thing that blocks the little sparks/ashes, so Rob propped a board against the white bucket (empty of scrap wood) to protect us. Now, hurry up home warranty repairman and get here! There’s no fire today – all the pyro’s had to go to work!
