Yea it’s cold! Boo, the heat doesn’t work!

Solution: use the fireplace in the “playroom”. Rob had to guard it all afternoon.
Rob and Jacob had fun putting stuff in the fire – scrap wood, cardboard boxes, pieces of tree branches fallen, the file folder of stuff waiting to be shredded…

And with no chairs in this room other than the computer desk (it is the playroom after all), we all sat on the floor in front of it.

The kids thought it was fun. We had no grate (?) – the thing that blocks the little sparks/ashes, so Rob propped a board against the white bucket (empty of scrap wood) to protect us.
Now, hurry up home warranty repairman and get here! There’s no fire today – all the pyro’s had to go to work!

Thank goodness for a fire place. (I think a screen might be a good investment.) Glad to see ya'll can put those emergency plans in place! Looks like we might have to start ours up soon. I know your "pyro" brothers were thrilled to help out!
Fireplaces are cozy and warm.

It can't possibly get THAT cold in SC! :):):)
I'm not sure what the temperature was yesterday, but it was in the 30's overnight and the house was around 58 degrees all day today until they repaired it. No, it's not utah cold, but it dropped like 20 degrees all of a sudden over the weekend.

I LOVE fireplaces and I am like your mom...invest in a screen for the fireplace, it is worth it. We loved ours when we had one and used it all the time...great in case of icestorms when the power goes out...keeps everyone warm!!
