School Ended a month ago
So clearly, I am behind in my blogging!
Starting where I left off - band and orchestra concerts.
Kaitlyn (Clarinet)
She plays well, made it into honors band next year, and got to conduct one song during the concert. She LOVES music.
Gideon does pretty well for their concerts; he loves music too. This one was a little long though. I'm not sure how much data we used that night, but afterwards we downloaded a movie to the phones!
Alee finished up her school year - we were trying to make an electromagnet (and we sort of did).
Seth - first year back in orchestra for high school. (He took a break in 9th and did guitar.)
We finished Alee's year with a trip to the statehouse. (We had done government back in Feburary, but I figured we'd wrap up the year with review and field trip.)
The twins and I went to my cousin's graduation party and had fun at the photo booth.
Sometimes I laugh when their "twinness" comes out, especially when they don't realize it. :)
Please let us get through our "to do" list today....
Hat? I don't wear hats. Why would I want to cover my bald, perfect head?
It's swimming season, and we are behind. (Alee's hand me down is faded, thin, and saggy. Gideon is wearing a t-shirt and a size-too-small disposable swim diaper.)
Alee done.
Rats! He finally learned to open the screen door; now we have to lock it.
Gideon can also open upstairs gate, so we had to put an S-hook in the hole of the latch.
Ok, a few minutes on the swings.
Bucket head...while mom's working with the boomwhackers.
Got a swimshirt. One piece done for Gideon.
Gideon saw this in his cousin's playroom, and said, "unicorn."
The weekend before school ended we had our family music recital. (You can get links to this in another post.)
Alee finished her 180 days, so we took the next Monday while the other kids had a full day of school to go to Edventure. (It was the last time during this membership period. I might renew again next year or if another great deal comes along, but we'll take a break from that for a bit.)
Kaitlyn got an award from her Social Studies teacher for something like student of the year, outstanding achievement type of thing. (She also got all A's for the year.)
So we celebrated success with family swim time that afternoon. (It was the first half day of school.) Kaitlyn now has a fitting swimsuit (that matches Alee) - "Unicorns are real."
One of the twins' end of year exploration projects in math/science. (They made marble roller coasters after they had finished all the standards for the year and were prepped for finals.)
And the school year ended abruptly.
My grandpa "Daddy Tom" as we all called him died on that same day of awards/swimming (6/5/19), so as soon as school ended on Thursday, we cleaned and packed (and edited our original plans for that weekend) to prepare to go to my mom's (where everyone was gathering for the funeral).
I'll post several in a row to catch up the summer in pieces rather than 1 big post.
Quotes from this month:
Can I have one of those....British egg bread patty things?
