Catching up before DC

These are all our little things between the yard disaster and before spring break (when we went to Washington DC on vacation).

Seth was awarded SC Junior Scholar.

And later that week, he and Carolyn had their orchestra concert. Seth is switching to another musical class next year, so this was his last strings concert (at least for now - he may take orchestra again in high school later). I'm sad to see him change instruments, but I think he signed up for either guitar or percussion. (He can learn pretty much any instrument he picks up. And I told him he would still be keeping up that instrument because I just finished paying it off! But he's welcome to learn more too.)

Carolyn made it into honors orchestra for 7th/8th grade (Seth made it by 7th grade also and has taken that the past 2 years). I was excited for her.

Kaitlyn and Alee "heart attacked" our door - something they'd heard of others doing at church.

Then, our family picture plan for the spring didn't work out. My photographer had tragedy in her family, and I didn't want to reschedule any later since I'm showing so much now, so we decided to try again for the fall after the baby is born and I'd just take my own for now.
They're not awesome, but they are an update at least. (If you want to print one to frame, let me know and I can email the original since these are not full resolution uploads.)

Then we had some exciting things right before spring break at school - field day (which because of rain and other things became a short field day held mostly in the gym at school) and the twins' ELA greek mythology project/class play.

Alee was instructed to wear blue - I think she got every shade of blue she owns.

Kaitlyn is Aphrodite (goddess of love and beauty) and Natalie is Athena (goddess of wisdom).

We got up early to do greek goddess hairstyles!

Then, we attended a spring carnival at the park/club for Rob's work. The kids had lots of fun. It was for 12 and under, but several vendors gave Seth a treat too when the 4 girls each got one.

The girls loved the fancy face painting.

What a ham!

And then...we spent from Monday to Thursday in DC for spring break.  We decided about a month or so ago to throw in this vacation since we would not be able to do anything like this during this coming summer and had been talking about Washington DC for a few years. I'm not one to drag a baby along on vacation unless it's to visit family, so we probably would have put it off another few years if we hadn't made it fit into spring break. But that's for the next post...
