Spring has arrived

I'm enjoying spring, but honestly, I just want summer to be here. I'm trying to "enjoy the journey" - doing normal spring fun, continuing to organize the house (especially the kids' areas), and work on have to stuff that I know I won't have time for in summer with 5 kids running around "helping" me...but I am tired of the busy school year schedule. Moving and getting a whole house set up and completely re-organized in the middle of the year (although a blessing the move and new house has been) has been a lot to juggle with school and church and sports.

Anyways...here are the fun things (or at least the picture-worthy things...they weren't all fun). I'll leave out all the "have to's" on my list that I don't photograph. :)

It's so fun to see what we've got in the yard since we moved in when everything was hibernating for the winter. This tree is all green now with just a few flowers left, but it was so beautiful to watch it bloom.

Mighty Minds musical at the elementary school. (The twins had "leading roles". I was quite surprised they both got chosen...but more surprised that Natalie WANTED to speak in front of a crowd. What on earth happened to my shy little red head this year?)

The mythology unit for 4th grade included a "wax museum" presentation - this year being a "Battle of the Gods" where the class presented Norse and Greek/Roman mythology characters who bantered at each other as they proclaimed their awesomeness (facts about their character). Carolyn got to be Athena this year. (She was excited...she had wanted to be Athena last year when she was doing some work with a 4th grade class and they let her join in.) She made the thing she's wearing with some help from me. She did about 60% of the sewing.
And the shield and spear she made without my help. I think a neighbor friend helped with the shield.

Soccer season has begun.

(I so want the kids to be active and to learn to love exercise...but keeping up with sports schedules with more than 1 or 2 kids in sports is kind of exhausting...especially when NO ONE is on the same activity as anyone else! We've previously had kids doing dance together or tennis together...but all four have a separate sport or team this year...and this might be the last year that happens this way.)

And of course Egg Dying

Some horizontal stripes eggs were made in honor of Uncle Will...

Seth's yoda egg

Rob's egg

And Spring cleaning, organization, and another attempt at gardening...this time in a little raised bed.

Sneak peak into Seth's room (note the no-longer-lavender walls!)

The reading book has finally been finished for the last time (at least by one of my kids)...YEA!
(She has persevered so well. We still have a way to go in learning to read, but the foundation has been established. And she is starting to be excited about being able to read and sound out. And her phonetic writing is fun to read.)
