So far this summer...(ending June)
It feels like summer is half over since June is ending, but really, we're just 3 weeks into our 10 week break from school.
We haven't had the "perfect" activity-filled summer I had in mind, but I guess they've had fun so far.
I've focused more on the daily schedule as opposed to the activities, and it's helped a little, but it still feels like summer's flying by and we're getting nothing done. I guess we are flying through books.
We read Alice's Adventures in Wonderland at the end of school/beginning of summer.
Now we're reading through The Borrowers together.
Trying to decide which will be our next family chapter book? Any suggestions??
We've had more friend time...which I'm not sure I like, but I guess I'll get over it. Just because I'm content to see my friends once a week at church and occasionally twice a week doesn't mean they are happy with that.
Am I weird that I just wish they'd play with each other and not constantly ask if they can have a friend over and not constantly have the neighbors knocking on the door?
I've also tried to let them have more 'free time'...which means usually more mess in the house, but less to plan for. And they have surprised me with a few of their own ideas.
Will made most of those animals in case you're impressed.
I did realize that we haven't been having morning prayer (how could I forget that?!) Without school to get us out the door in the morning, the "leave the house" prayer got forgotten. So we fixed that this week!
Seth finished his last year at cub scout camp (as a Webelos he'll move up this fall to 11 year old boy scouts)
Rob's sister's family moved to town (which we're really excited about). I'm so glad the kids have several cousins in town these days (although I always wish for more cousins for them - Rob and I both feel that some of our favorite memories as children involve time spent with cousins.)
And I'm so glad we have the zoo for an 'easy' activity...
too bad we've only had time to go once and it'll start getting so hot soon they will lose interest.
The twins tried out the rock wall for the first time - Kaitlyn climbed up faster than any of her siblings ever have. I didn't realize she was such a little monkey!
Natalie cautiously stayed near the bottom half of her wall. :)
To finish off June, we do have a pretty exciting weekend in store...what is it?
Oh, you'll just have to wait until we get back and see the pictures!
