Summer Activities #4

This is the last summer activities post -
Week 7 -

Monday (July 16th) - fun photos day
actually, we did this Tuesday along with our regular library activity because I thought I could fit gym and activities into the same day Monday. Nope.

Kids learned to use the camera, then took 5 pictures (you can see 1 from each child below), then played a guessing game of each other's pictures (distorted somehow in photoshop).

Wednesday - String Games
I got a book from the library (that had TONS more than the ones I learned when I was young) -  I think Santa might be bringing some official cat's cradle strings/books to the 3 girls who really love string games - I've already added some to my Amazon wish list! (such a simple way to entertain quietly).

Thursday - Zoo Day

Friday - visit to Dad's work

Weekend - Natalie's turn
While Natalie was away at Memere and Grandpa's (having a blast at the children's museum), we got the van clean - inside and out!

Rob also mowed the lawn and Seth sprayed the weeds (don't fear - it wasn't a chemical - just vinegar)

Week 8 -
Over the weekend Rob got a flat tire and the van was overdue for an oil change, so
Monday became - fix the cars day
but the shop did give each of the kids a beach ball - how nice.

Tuesday - Library Day as always
This week's was a little boring - and I had twisted/popped out of joint?? my knee and it was killing me - and I was sad - just a bad day overall (hurting inside and outside)...but we'll leave that and move on to more fun.

Wednesday - Grammy Visit
We used our library coupons for completing one of the levels to get free kids "ice dream" from Chick-fil-A

Thursday - zoo day
Yes, we have lots of those - but I've got a membership to make the most of!
But this time, we had company which adds to the pleasure and allowed Carolyn and me to feed the Lorikeets - again, a super hot day - love the misty fans they have in the summer!

Friday - Family Bowling
the kids had never been bowling before, but wanted to go (this is one of those activities that was not cheap/free, but they were so looking forward to it), and I think everyone really had fun.
I was a little worried about my knee, but it was mostly better and was only a little sore from the activity.

Alee had a bowling ducky - she was determined to bowl with it .... when she wasn't trying to change our scores or our names on the computer!

We finished off that week with a visit to Rob's aunt who celebrated a birthday - and Carolyn lost a tooth Thursday night. Here are a few more pictures of the summer fun -

Disclaimer:
We are not perfect, the kids have fights and I have never had a messier house than I have had this summer. And I am not hanging out the dirty laundry by putting up a video of the kids fighting or photographing the bathroom floor, but I will admit it is not all ice cream and roses every day - but it has been fun anyways. :)

funny Alee...

This is the month where I've had enough summer and I'll take school just because it means that fall is around the corner.

I didn't experiment as much this summer as I usually do because I was too busy squeezing in activities, but we did try a few things - the salsa rice and the kabobs got a big, no thanks, but the homemade ice cream sandwiches, homemade crescent rolls (for chicken salad), and Rob's hot wings all got great children-tested reviews. :) Why can't healthy food taste good?

Carolyn had her turn to visit Memere & Grandpa's House.

I hope this cuts down on our dryer time - our dryer was vented, not only inefficiently, but incorrectly.
Rob took care of that this weekend. yea for a handy husband!

I know I probably only have 5 readers and this blog is probably a waste of time, but I really have fun getting the posts up (at least for the grandparents to read).
Thanks for tolerating all the photo collages - I had a lot of fun this summer learning/exploring in photoshop.
If you're a friend on facebook, you can skip the summer2012 album - it has all the same pictures as the blog this summer - it's for non-bloggers to see. Happy dog days of summer!

If I am the only one that reads the blog it is worth it! I look at it over and over again, especially when I am at work and need something to make me smile.
I love love the cute twisted hair and bun on Carolyn:)
Glad I have such a talented Son in law. I need to borrow him for a weekend project or two:)

Jake and I both read it, so your count's way up ;) I love all the pictures...I need to learn to snap pictures more often. Be extra grateful for your handyman, because we just spent $130 getting our dryer fixed...boo.
