Summer Activities #3
Week 5 - finishing...
July 4th, Wednesday - The tie dye went just fine - no pictures still :(
& Fireworks -
should have skipped it - even patient Will & Hannah had just about had it with a few of my teenagers (I mean, children) by the end of the night!
Thursday - well, we do have to clean up sometimes.
Friday - movie afternoon w/ Mom
(skip quiet time) - Percy Jackson, Lightning Thief
(Seth had recently finished the book and wanted to see the movie version)
1st Weekend - I have no weekend activities this month, but the kids each take a turn going to visit Rob's parents for 1-on-1 time with them.
Seth got his weekend alone with Grandpa and Memere first - they went to Legoland Discovery and by the LDS bookstore in Atlanta.
no sisters - how nice!
Week 6: Mommy got a 2nd wind...
Monday night - Sleepovers- for a total of 8 children in the house.
Tuesday - Library - a magic show - how fun!
Wednesday - game day - minimal fighting -only 1 sore loser meltdown - it was naptime (I expected it)
Thursday - pool day
We brought along Hannah (our new favorite visitor and lifeguard) to swim at my aunt's pool - we even had some cousins for entertainment while there.
The oldest 3 have been learning to swim this summer - mostly on their own with some help from Hannah. (I haven't gone but a few times, so they haven't had time for formal lessons from her, so it's mostly just doggy paddles now, but at least the vests have come off.)
Kaitlyn, though, has really gotten brave.
And because I am in fewer pictures, etc compared to the rest, I thought I'd throw in one of me too - for your enjoyment and mild laughter - don't laugh too hard or I'll take it down! :)
Friday - Hike @ Table Rock (SC upstate)
We hiked the Carrick Creek Trail, so we didn't actually go to Table Rock, but we hiked about 1.9 miles. Because of the rain, the waters were too high and they told us we couldn't get into the water at the bottom of the falls (disappointment for the kids who had swimsuits under their clothes), but we did get to cross over some wet areas of the trail. (The waterfall in the picture below was right at the trailhead before getting to where the trails divide. There were others - bigger than this - we passed, but they were off the trail.)
Check out all the faces - being weird/silly or having an attitude in these pictures (click to enlarge the collage).
The 2nd weekend was for Kaitlyn - who had a blast with the children's museum in Greenville.
I think I may just give up cleaning the kitchen for the rest of the summer (here's for round 3 in the kitchen today!) - that's post-snack/pre-supper.
Two more weeks of activities, then August - no activities - just relax and prepare for another school year. Am I more sad, excited, happy, tired, or scared?? I don't know.
