Summer 2012 - post #1
First, David graduated High School- so we went to that...
And we had to make a quick trip to the beach while we were down there...
When we got back, our calendar fun started - with craft day for the girls (while Seth was at cub scout day camp)...
Our weekend was a trip to visit my brother and his family - who live at least 4 hours away and "never get visits" - we went to a park while visiting and Rob initiated challenges for the kids to try and compete.
The sleepover trade (kids back) ended at the park with a kite making/flying activity - which ALL of the kids loved - including some random other kids at the park who joined in the fun.
These are only the activities we took pictures of - there was a library activity involving reptiles, a trip to Fuddruckers (courtesy of Memere), 2 pool visits, a cub scout day, family game night, and some visiting teaching!
I'm a little tired after the past two weeks and not sure if I want to carry through with tomorrow's tie dye activity...maybe I should move that one to later in the summer and make it a shopping day instead for some of the kids needing clothes? We'll see...
(You should be able to click on any of the pictures and have them open bigger - I know the collages are hard to make out, but I wanted to cram in lots of pictures without making a super LONG post.)

Our visit got cut a little short thanks to Beth's crazy headache :( but it was still fun to visit and see their new house and watch Thomas crawl.
The next week began with experiments (simple experiments - a list of ideas obtained from a school handout that used around the house stuff - we choose about 8-10 off the list that we had stuff for)
The big hit of the summer so far has been star gazing/sleepover night, which included some water fun while waiting on the stars to appear (which takes til about 9:30 PM this time of year by the way)...

The zoo today included a scavenger hunt in the gardens (they have a scavenger hunt paper to pick up at the visitor's center)...we took it slowly - and stopped to smell the flowers :)
