August 2011
The girls got a new bed (we just couldn't fit that many beds in the room and they weren't all fitting in one)...Alee will move to the trundle after her birthday and the crib will go away.
We got our homework area set up (desks in front of carolyn facing windows) - and supplies out of alee's reach! (Not that it matters...she can get a stool and climb if she wants, but she usually doesn't.)
We had some haircutting experiences (one at the beginning of the month - see distraught Kaitlyn in the background who feels the full guilt of cutting Natalie's hair and natalie's smirk b/c she just doesn't care...and one at the end of the month, which resulted in Kaitlyn getting a 'new do'!) See farther down for THAT one!
Kaitlyn was afraid of the punishment mostly (not that there was one - I'd never made a no haircutting rule, so I couldn't give a consequence.)
We had our last 'hurrah' (trip to the zoo) the day before school began.
And the first day of school - ready early! (all 5 in fact, plus, me, Rob, and Will...whose first day of school it also was...sorry, he left before I could get a picture of him!)
Alee asked almost every morning for 2 weeks, "Keh keh?" (Carolyn) [She's at school.] "Cool?" She started asking about Seth this week and now she says after drop off today, "keh keh cool. set cool." (Carolyn's at school. Seth's at school.)
Preschool begins...ok, my 1 activity/week is not really enough to call preschool, but they don't know that. (Week one topic: teeth - we made tooth fairy wands and had a check up at the dentist...Kaitlyn really just looked at the dentist b/c she wouldn't let anyone in her mouth. oh well, maybe next year.)
Pictures of the 2nd hair cut of the month (well, actually, it was sept 1st, so it wasn't in august, but it ties in, so I'm including it) No photo of the back, but she cut some there too.
She actually looks cute with short hair (I would have cut it earlier - myself - but I thought her round face wouldn't look good with a short cut, but it does.) The 'growing out bangs' (that she gave herself) are a little hard to deal with because they go past her ear! but we're figuring it out.
We tell those who ask, "Kaitlyn started the haircut and miss Erica finished it."
This time, their scissor rights we're terminated (they knew not to cut hair and hid in a corner of the playroom to do it...I thought they were getting more paper to cut). I have their scissors, and Kaitlyn has be warned that if she ever does this again, she gets a boy haircut.
The climbing stage is now in full swing...
Rob and I did start 2 quick projects in August, but those will be a separate post as 1 is not ready for pictures yet. The other never will be unless we remodel, but it's as good as it's gonna get. (maybe I'll post it before the end of September!)
