Smart funny Kid

My aunt says these blogs are for bragging. I like them for the laughs. Here's some of both on Seth.

He wanted to check out Harry Potter from school a few months ago, and they wouldn't let it. It's in an 'older' section (3rd or 4th or 5th grade and up).
I don't know why that mattered? Here's to "no child left behind....and no child allowed ahead!"   (wait, let me brag on another kid too... They let Carolyn get books from the first grade section, so why can't he get one from the 3rd or 4th grade section?)
Anyways, the first we heard of it was the last week of school or so, when he asked, "Can I get Harry Potter from the library? They won't let me get it at school." (and he explained why)
So, I put a hold request at public library and got it for him. I figured, if it's too advanced for him, he'll lose interest and we'll return it.

He started on the 16th of June. Finished it today. Read for hours on the days he read it. Loved it.
So there, school!

Ok, now the funnies. Hope you don't mind a joke that needs a preface.
We have a chore chart I made in the past few months - we all have weekly pockets and daily pockets. The daily pockets were probably a waste of my time since no one pays attention to those, but the weekly chores are working. We get 3 popsicle sticks (with a chore written on each) per week. Every 'demerit' (yeah, it's an old school word...I couldn't think of anything better) gets an extra chore popsicle stick added to your pocket for the week. If your demerit is from violence to another family member, your demerit comes from their pocket (rather than the stock pile) - and they can choose which chore to give you (i.e., you hit them, you do one of their chores). That part's been working pretty good too.

(now that the explanation has passed, the punch line):
Seth has a chore in his pocket this week he doesn't like, so he says after reading it, "Someone punch me!"
It took me a minute to get it when he said it. :)

and an extra funny...
The girls were getting irritated at Seth earlier...I can't remember what was going on, but (for once) he wasn't aggravating them to cause it. He suggested, "You're just jealous because I'm so cool."
How can you argue with self confidence like that?

Good for Seth for being able to read and "older" book. The school should allow him to check it out though. Reading shouldn't be discouraged. Is he wanting to read the second one now?

I think the chore chart solution is great! Seth is so funny. I can see your brothers doing the same thing.
