A new beginning

IF YOU DON’T WANT TO READ ALL THIS, JUST LOOK AT THE PICTURES – THE LONG TEXT IS MOSTLY FOR CERTAIN FAMILY MEMBERS.
Yesterday we went to our favorite park (probably for the last time in the house).

Today, “summer” ended (at least in my eyes, maybe not according to science)…
We went to see his classroom and meet his teacher last night.

(frogs again! – just like his kindergarten class last year) :)
1st DAY OF SCHOOL

Yes, he needs a haircut – we ran out of time.
Carolyn HAD to have a new outfit too. (I guess you could say she’s doing “preschool at home” after we move. :) She also got a few “school supplies”, and the twins got some new crayons and their own safety scissors.)
Thanks to the twins, we had a more rushed morning than I’d planned…
We had to drive ALL the way across town to Seth’s new school (about 30-40 minutes). So, the plan was, let them wake up whenever (they’re always up by 6:30), change the pullups and GO!
They woke up later than usual. When I changed the pull ups, Natalie said she needed a “different shirt” (not pajamas). I asked Kaitlyn if she needed to go potty (she always says no when I ask her – instead of tell her). She said yes…and not only did she go – she had to sit longer and wait for….you guessed it – poop!
But, we made it in time! Unfortunately, the gate I had shown him last night that leads to the “multipurpose room” was shut! So, I told the teacher at the drop off line that he didn’t know how to get there, and I’m sure they took him. I just hope he didn’t get all teary eyed when the “plan” changed all of a sudden!  (I didn’t plan to walk him in b/c I didn’t want to walk all the girls in, so I was still wearing crusty ready-to-pack-boxes kind of clothes.)
(Girls pictures taken after we got back home.)
Seth’s last night before school:
He said last night that he felt a little nervous (he wasn’t at all last year). So, I asked him why (thinking the obvious – new school, new everything all over again.) He said because he didn’t know how to count to “one thousand hundred” (100,000 I think he meant.) :)  Always my overachiever! I told him, I thought he’d be fine, and read some things they said were covered in 1st grade, to point out that he not only knew enough, but probably more than was necessary. He felt better after that and seemed fine this morning, other than complaining that he was tired.

Oh, I loved the pictures. It made me smile as I sit here at work totally weighed down with way too much in my head (personally and work related) Thanks for the up lift. Seth is just a little Man! He is such a great big brother and I have no doubt he will continue to be at the top of his class and be counting to 100,000 before he knows it. Love Carolyn's outfit, so Carolyn! Wish I was there to have home preschool with them.
I hope he had a wonderful day! What school is he attending?

The pictures were adorable and I wouldn't expect anything less of Seth in being an overachiever...he does have you and Rob for parents! He looked all ready for his first day of school and the girls looked adorable...loved Carolyn's new outfit!

well the already phd holder is well on his way to supreme excellence--which we all knew anyway. i had a troubling grandmother like moment when i looked at his picture and worried about him being alone with people i dont know. i suddenly found myself offering a quick prayer to protect him at school. that was an interesting feeling--one i've never felt before. i think i now understand ninna a little more with her troubled nervousness with me at the pool or the beach.
