Seth's Report Card

Seth's still young enough where I can report his report card on here for family to see without him being embarrassed by my bragging...so I am! :)

(I never mentioned 1st quarter - the comment was "Seth is such a joy to have in class. He is reading up a storm and can recognize 50 sight words already. His math skills are great! Keep up the great work!" and got mostly "C" for consistently demonstrated with a few "S" for sometimes demonstrated - no R's for rarely demonstrated.)

So, this time, several of the "S" went up to a "C". A few stayed the same (like demonstrates self confidence was still only sometimes...and I can believe it - he can be such a perfectionist that he's often afraid of screwing up. But his direction following and interaction with familiar adults improved as did his using simple strategies to resolve conflicts. yea.) Anyways...the comment (which is really the only useful thing on this thing of C,S, and R's) said:

"Seth continues to do an awesome job each day. His enthusiasm for learning is great! He is very knowledgeable and likes to share what he knows with his friends. He has reached 100 sight words! Great Job!"

I read that to him and the only things he said was, "What does knowledgeable mean?" and "Are there any A's or B's?" haha...where did he learn that?
I'm sure the A's and B's will come!

I'm glad they noticed his enthusiasm for learning...that's one of my favorite things about him. This week, he decided to try and read from the Book of Mormon (yeah...a kindergartener attempting to read from scriptures!) He did alright - I picked some short verses and helped him with the unfamiliar words. And he surprised me with some (like Behold and nevertheless) It was cute...he has a desire to learn and a desire for righteousness...I love my Seth.

I'm not at all surprised that Seth is doing so well in school..(I mean look at his parents..:)!) I am very proud of him and it is so good to see his love for learning, esp. his love for learning things of righeousness! Way to go Seth..you make me a very proud Great Aunt!

We have started each of our kids reading the Book of Mormon when they hit Kindergarten and could start reading words on their own. I'm telling you their reading improves quicker with reading the scriptures than any other book, humm that shouldn't come as a surprise!

Great job Seth on a wonderful report card!!

I still have my report cards from Kindergarten. . .although, unlike Seth's report card I'm sure, it was all handwritten (no computer-generated report cards back then!)

It sounds like he's doing great!

Yeah I wouldn't expect anything other than brilliance from one of your kids! I remember all the awards you got for being so dang smart in high school! I wish Seth was in one of my drama classes, because the kids in those classes sure would not get C's for listening and following directions!

You should be very proud of Seth and Seth should be proud of himself. Tell him never ever be embarrassed about your sharing how smart he is. That's something that should be shared with everyone. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, SETH!
