Cooking Questions

For kneading dough (I don't mind doing it by hand for like 5 minutes, but for pizza you're supposed to do it like 15-30 - yikes!):
If you own a bread machine or kitchen aid with dough hook, what are your thoughts?
(If they're lengthy or detailed, you can write a separate email to me.)

Does anyone have a good breadstick recipe? (Yes, the greasy buttery, garlicky kind that cost $2.00 for a box of 6 in the frozen section.)
We love them...and I can't afford to buy them 6 at a time when we have pasta, pizza, and other good breadstick meals all the time! I like the ones that are separated, not a big sheet of bread you cut after baking...do I have to 'roll' them all in butter? That's messy and I end up with much longer breadsticks in the end that are tough and flavorless.

Comments

Oh, and I don't like refrigerated breadsticks. They taste fake.

I haven't ever tried one, but maybe I will look into it.
David likes to make breadsticks, so he makes pizza dough. He melts butter and adds fresh pressed garlic into it and brushes it onto the breadsticks. I think he adds some parmesan cheese, too. They're pretty good!
But how do you get it from dough form to breadstick form? (mine end up slimy strips of dough that are tough and lacking moisture?

I use my bread machine and put it on the dough cycle. I don't like to knead bread forever either. I havne't made breadsticks, but rolls, etc. and so much easier making the dough in the bread machine.
