Organization - or the lack thereof!

I have a fascination with organizing things. This is not to say that my house is organized. But rather that I am constantly reorganizing things!

So, here are some of my favorite organizational finds and some areas I still need some help in!

organized - cheapness from walmart

gotta love those plastic (and canvas) boxes - I use them EVERYWHERE

organized: The kid korner

_______________________________________________________________
organized: hair bow board
ok, I stole this idea online - even Carolyn can keep this neat!

note the little metal hooks underneath for the kids' hooded towels (that idea came from my mom - she did that when we were little)
_____________________________________________________________
needs work: 72 hour food
I got a rolling hamper for our 72 hour kit food - let's hope there's no real emergency b/c if we rolled this thing anywhere it would DIE under the weight!
What else rolls, can hold this much food, and can sit in the corner of my kitchen (and be mopped around) and doesn't cost more than $20?

needs work: the poor garage

We do organize it, but as soon as we do, it gets unorganized - we need an organization that is useably organized! The van WILL stay in the garage and I'm afraid to store riding toys outside - they'll be ruined or stolen. Is there any hope? (besides moving!)

anyone want about 13 cinderblocks?
yes, we bought these to go with the super strong (and heavy) boards you see to the right of them for shelves, but can't fit them anymore and have no garage room for more floor shelves

_______________________________________________________________
organized: crafts in baskets (pricy but exactly what i wanted)
all my sewing, stamping, jewelry making, scrapbooking, and craft stuff in one spot!
OK, not ALL the stuff I use is on the shelves, but the stuff I use the most neatly surrounds my craft table (it needs work, but is probably hopeless without more space).

MY FAVORITE
organized: "FREE" SNACK (and other) CONTAINERS
My favorites: peanut butter canisters and parmesan cheese containers (the pretzels are in one)-
they hold everything so well...big kids can open them easily; little kids can't - how perfect is that? Parmesan cheese containers have a cool fliptop. (Of course, we only have one parm. cheese b/c how fast do you really go through that?)

I hope you feel inspired by my bits of organization and if you have suggestions for the stuff that needs works (or any other organizational tips you have as favorites), pass them on!

Beth so I actually have an organizational tool for you. You and your mom are so much better at that than me. Anyhow for the 72 hour kits we have them on a shelve in the garage and each person has a bookbag. I got them on sale after school started and got realy nice bookbags for $2 a piece. Just an idea! How did you do the bow thing? That looks great!

I love organizing...not that I am organized either but I love baskets to put stuff in and I LOVE your 72 hour kit idea...you have got it all together at such a young age and with such small kids...I love you and look up to your example all the time...thanks for more great ideas!
We actually have bookbags for our 72 hour kits - the NON food part...so this is just the food! (I never could pack light!) We need something else we don't have to carry since we all have bookbags already. (I tried a cooler, but the food didn't fit.) Oh, the hairbow thing - cover a board with fabric (hot glue it on) and then put ribbons down it (also hot glued onto the back, but left tight and unglued on the front). If I find any cool deals on storage/organization ideas I will have to get them for you. As Grandaddy use to say when he came to visit" Kim uses every available space" He loved the bookbag hooks by the back door! I wish he could see how much space I have now. Now I need more stuff!
