Go to the corner

So, Natalie thinks it's funny to hit people in the face. We say, NO NO. She just does it again and laughs. So, she's over a year, and by 18 months I know she knows enough to have time outs (the others did), so last night when she kept hitting Kaitlyn in the face and laughing about it, I took her to the corner (with the usual, "We don't hit. We be gentle"). I made her stand there 10 seconds, then went through it again.

Well, for the rest of the night, she burst into tears everytime she saw the American Flag in that corner (where we keep it when it's not hanging outside). That is now HER corner.
This morning, she swatted at Kaitlyn's face again. I said, "Do you want to go to the corner?" She got up, went to the den, and got in the corner! (It's apparently fun.)
I remember when Carolyn was 1, she would go to the corner when she was mad at one of us. Carolyn didn't mind the corner when she was little, but now, it's like pulling teeth without novacaine to get her to stand in the corner!

I don't think I will have any available corners at my house. Sorry! But of course, we don't need them there anyway.

Oh...she looks so pitiful standing in the corner! I know that you have to do things like that but as the aunt I don't think that I could do it!
