Learning and Working at Home

Let's start with Gideon quotes: "HAIR!" (Yep, he still has a little emergency when there is a hair on him.) "Ok, it's my day." We have days of the week. On Monday, it's Seth's day. He says family prayers. If we go somewhere, he gets front seat (or first seat of choice after adults). If there's a decision to be made that ends in us picking someone, we pick Seth because Monday is Seth's day.  We each have a day, and it's mostly for the kids. For the adults, it really only affects who says family prayers on Saturday/Sunday. Gideon shares our days. When Seth graduates and goes on a mission (and Gideon is about 4 years old), Gideon can have Monday. Until then, he needs help praying and he can't sit in the front or lead us in quoting something aloud, so he just shares the weekend with Rob and me.  However, EVERY time we say something like, "Natalie, it's Thursday, you pray." Gideon responds with "OK, it's ...

The week after my birthday (the last time I posted) was just as packed as every other week (and then some): And now this week, our calendar has really cleared up!  COVID-19 has put everything in the world on hold in a way! Thank goodness for the blessing of technology! Thankfully, our family has not had symptoms or exposure (as far as we know!) to the COVID-19 (coronavirus), but we are always cautious with sickness anyways. No one wants to bring home germs when it's going to take weeks to go through all 8 of us! We've taken our hygiene up a notch this month though! So, what did we do earlier this month before the world turned upside down and everyone start...

It's a cool date, and it's my birthday. Here's our life for the past 3 weeks: The twins each get to pick a meal and dessert for their birthday, but then we split up their choices between 2 days, sometimes doing one's wishes on the birthday and the other on a Sunday nearest, sometimes splitting and doing 1 request from each on the 2 days chosen to celebrate, or like this year, putting everything wherever it is convenient. (Carolyn and Alee have the same arrangement.) Kaitlyn's birthday meal (tortellini with alfredo sauce) was on the day before her birthday (Wednesday). Natalie's birthday meal (anything with macaroni) was on their birthday (Thursday). Natalie's birthday dessert was on their birthday, and Kaitlyn's was on the Sunday after their birthday. Since their birthday fell on a Thurday and that's Natalie's day of the week, it's fitting that both of her food items landed on her birthday.  Natalie chose a jelly roll style dessert ...
